Sharing Experiences.
Developing Leaders.

Firefighter Mentors is a collaborative platform connecting experienced leaders, both within and beyond the fire service, to share their stories, knowledge, and lessons learned.

Through meaningful conversations, educational resources, career opportunities, and professional connections, we aim to inspire growth and help develop today's and tomorrow's leaders.

Leadership meets opportunity

Meet the Chief

Get to know the leaders behind fire departments and hear directly about their organizations, culture, expectations, and opportunities. This is not a comprehensive listing of current job openings. Instead, we feature chiefs and other agency leaders who want to share their message about what it’s like to work for their department. When a featured agency is recruiting, we’ll link to its official application information.

First feature in development

We're developing the Meet the Chief interview series. Featured departments and recruitment links will appear once interviews are completed and details are confirmed.

Contribute and connect

Our story

Founded and hosted by former Fire Chief Eric Lang

Drawing on 32 years in the fire service, including 13 years as Fire Chief of the Village of Key Biscayne, Eric created Firefighter Mentors to bring experienced voices together and make practical lessons accessible to current and future leaders.

Eric believes leadership development is a lifelong process. It requires maintaining credibility, taking ownership of mistakes, correcting them, and building relationships grounded in trust. Firefighter Mentors is a place to share those lessons openly so others can learn from both successes and setbacks.
